Last week my friend and I decided to have a quick girls trip weekend in Miami! It just happened to be the week after the girl’s trip movie released, maybe subliminal messages are strong because I still haven’t even seen the movie. Anyway, I love the beach, needed a quick break from New York and hadn’t visited Miami in two years. I figured this would be the perfect time to go back. The flight from New York is short and since I was already in Atlanta earlier that week, the flight was even shorter.
At first, I was a bit worried because the weather forecast predicted rain all weekend, but the sun gods were on my side and it only rained Friday night for about 20 minutes! Other than that sunshine all weekend. This was perfect because I had a lot of new places I wanted to visit!
I rented a car from SIXT rental service for the first time which was amazing service provided me with a white BMW for the weekend. We stayed in the JW Marriott in Brickell, which was about 10 minutes from Downtown South Beach. The hotel was cute and comfortable with friendly staff. This was my first time staying in the Brickell, and I noticed the area had a ton of new restaurants, real estate, and shopping centers.
Here are a couple of places I went and recommend visiting when in South Beach.
For Daytime Fun:
Sugar- At the East Hotel- This was the cutest rooftop garden deco lounge with gorgeous views of Miami. This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends for drinks and food and catch a vibe. It had a couple private areas and tables, and a huge bar in the middle if you want to mingle. It’s attached to the East Hotel which was about 30 floors high and included restaurants, pool areas, and shopping. I stopped inside the Neiman Marcus store which had a gorgeous layout and great finds. I highly recommend stopping here as this was one of my favorite places during the trip.
Miami Brickell City Centre- Is connected to the East Hotel. You can even use there website to creat an itinerary to shop for the day and plan where you would like to eat. I love the high-end stores like AllSaints, Intermix, and I had a great time in Saks Fifth Avenue. The store was beautifully laid out with all the newest summer trends, very easy to shop and really friendly knowledgeable sales associates.
Miami South Beach- Of course stop by South Beach and walk along the strip. We spent Saturday on the beach. It was super hot, but it was great because you can rent umbrellas, beach chairs or a beach tent that the beach will setup for you for additional shade. You just need to find the little hut in the middle of the beach and don’t forget your sunscreen! The Aria Mesh White swimsuit I wore during my vacation on Miami beach is one of my favs by Keva J. If you like frozen drinks, stop by Wet Willies on the strip and pick your favorite flavor. It will help to keep you cool if anything.
SLS Hotel- Hyde Beach Pool Party- If you’re into a quick turn up session then I would stop by The Hyde Beach Pool Party. This reminded me of Vegas Pool Parties. Great music, video booths, and pool fun with your favorite unicorn and donut floaties. The hotel is gorgeous and I plan to book a stay in the future.
For Food:
Barton G’s- This is one of my new favorite restaurants of all time. I was informed it is only in Miami and LA, however I will be going back. Your food is brought out on a specialized designed display which varies depending on your order of drinks, appetizers, entrees, or dessert. It was a fun to see what people at different tables ordered which extravagant installation would come out next. There was literally a small bike on one table, an oversized $100 bill on another, and a man with a fire torch at another. I thought maybe the entertainment would be the best part, but the food was on point. I would just advise making a reservation and arriving early because Saturday night seems to get packed.
Yardhouse- We had a cute morning breakfast with drinks on Saturday morning. I enjoyed the atmosphere and this is a great spot for happy hour, birthday celebrations, and brunch.
Other food recommendations I did not make it to in time but heard were nice places to eat for dinner:
Komodo – Located in Brickell
Marion- connected to EL Tucan Located in Brickell
Lobster Bar Sea Grille- Located in South Beach
Nightlife:
Story Nightclub- We went to Story after Barton G’s which was a lot of fun and a huge venue. I like when clubs are spacious and not cramped. Juvenile was performing that night and the VIP service was nice.
ORA- Lounge Nightclub- I didn’t have the opportunity to go but heard this was a nice spot as well.
It was the perfect weekend getaway! Check out pics with my outfits details below.
I hope I helped you with some new spots to check out. Leave comments below if you have been to any of these places or have other places you recommend visiting in Miami.
