On April 21st-22nd I attended Beautycon for the third time. This year it was at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC. Beautycon is a huge beauty festival! Beauty brands create individual pop-ups for festival goers to interact with while showing new products before they are available in stores. It’s fun to mingle with other beauty lovers and get inspired while trying the new beauty trends. Brands like Mac, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Shea Moisture, Loreal, Maybelline, and Revlon attend. Popular makeup artist, influencers, and celebrities attend and host panels throughout the event promoting new products, and demonstrate their latest beauty finds, tips, and tricks. This year Beautycon had celebrity guest like Zendaya, Paris Hilton, and influencers like Itsmyrayraye and Liane V in NYC.
This year Beautycon offered a two-day ticketing option to allow a full weekend experience. The New York Beautycon festivals I’ve attended over the last few years were only one day. If you want to know more about my previous experience at Beautycon, refer to my other post Beautycon Festival New York 2017
This year was by far the biggest Beautycon New York Festival to date with a crowd to match. The Jacob Javits Center is the same place they hold the annual Auto Show, among many other big events, so It was interesting to see how popular it’s become and how much it has grown. One of the girls on the line, whom seemed like she was no older than 7 years old, expressed to me that she was so excited and waited her whole life to go to this! I was shock she even knew what Beautycon was.
This year per usual you have to pick one of the many ticket packages prior to the event. The options this time around were to include; The Social Package, the Hauler Package, Beauty Insider, All Access and General Admission. The packages have different price ranges and offer different incentives. The website breaks it down for you prior to your purchase and every year it’s a little bit different. I always choose the Hauler package because, quite frankly, I like beauty products and the gift bags are ALWAYS worth it and on point. The Beautycon team placed so much into the Hauler package gift bags, that I usually do not need to purchase anymore products for the rest of the year. It was so heavy this year I could hardly carry it throughout the day.
On top of the items you receive in the gift bag, you will also receive with early access to the event starting at 10:00AM. I like this because you can visit all of the booths before it opens to the public. It’s also great because it allows you time for great photo ops at all the booths before its crowded and the lines get long. Be prepared to carry a lot in your hands and wait on lines if you arrive late or during general admission. Pro Tip: Although I attended both day one and day two this year, the brands gave out more free samples and product on Day one. On day two, most of the vendors completely ran out of the swag they had on day 1 and were not as giving of samples product.
The Social Package is great if you like to meet really popular YouTube personalities, influencers, and celebrities. The All Access and Insider packages cost around $2,000 and provides you VIP treatment in your own personal area, the whole nine. I don’t even know what else, but that package is really expensive and I didn’t even finish reading it to be honest.
Regardless of which package you choose, you will receive your Beautycon box and wrist band in the mail leading up to the event. You have to activate the wristband before arriving. The Beautycon box will have all the instructions necessary to prepare for the festival, and even provide you with an app you can download to begin prepping for the event and planning out your day. I would recommend the app to receive push notifications throughout the event for notification of when your favorite events throughout the festival begin.
The line, even when I arrived early with the Hauler package, was really really long! I literally was walking forever to reach the end. I don’t like lines and never usually will wait on any if I can avoid it. I could not believe that there were so many girls lined up at 9:00AM waiting for the doors to open. I thought I was early since I had the 10:00AM early access ticket, but little did I know how many people also purchased the Hauler package this year. Once the doors opened, the line moved very quickly and was extremely organized by the team of Beautycon associates so I can’t complain.
I usually attend the event alone. Thank god this time I had my friend with me to assist in all the madness. I literally felt like it was “girls gone wild makeup edition”. Girls were like savages picking up their gift bags and running from booth to booth for new free product when the doors opened. It was really funny, and crazy, but still a lot of fun. I would recommend bringing a friend with you or a group if possible.
Our first stop was to pick up our Hauler gift bags before anything else. After that we walked straight to the drinks counter for some alcohol to start the morning and calm our nerves lol. Next, we headed over to the Dashing Diva booth. They were giving away press on nails and doing manicures. I’ve only used one type of press on nails in the past, but these were such cute designs I HAD to buy a few extra for the days I don’t have time to get a manicure. Comment below if you want me to do a post about my favorite brand of press on nails that actually stay on for a week! I still need to try these out and review soon, but they were really cute styles.
The thing I enjoyed the most about Beautycon this year, other than all the new products, were the games and photo booths. M.A.C had a great booth allowing you to create your own stop motion video, and Anastasia Beverly Hills makeup setup a ring toss game to win free Pallets.
The Paris Hilton Booth had a cute sparkly photo booth and Sexy Healthy Hair allowed you to create a virtual surf video. I even won the giveaway I entered at the booth. I didn’t even realize it until after I left the festival and they DM’d me on Instagram! They were kind enough to mail it to me.
I feel like all of the brands stepped up the booth interactive experiences this year. See one of the stop motion videos we created at MAC on my Instagram @msjenniferdanielle . Revlon even had a 360-photo booth experience with a camera spinning around while you stood in the center of the platform that reminded me of some of the set ups they would do for fashion police during award shows in the past.
I also met Itsmyrayraye, she is super sweet and down to earth. I love her page and beauty reviews.
Another new area this year at Beautycon was K-Town. This was an entire section dedicated specifically to Korean skincare and makeup products. I’ve heard a lot of good things about products made in Korea lately and wanted to try a few. Just be careful and make sure to read the ingredients. I heard some of the Korean products have bleach in them to lighten your skin, so make sure if that’s not something you want to check. The products I received were mostly fac masks and serums and I didn’t have any issues.
I’ll post some of my favorites beauty items below and take photos of all the items in the gift bag. I had so much products I divided it between my mother, sister, bestie and myself. If your considering attend ending Beautycon and wondering if the Hauler package is worth it, I would say yes! This festival is a fun way to celebrate beauty and go on a beauty haul at the same time!
I recommend signing up for emails on the beautycon website to receive notification when Beautycon is coming to a city near you. Beautycon ALWAYS sells out, so it’s best to get them early to catch it when it’s in your town. Beautycon also has an event in LA every year! Don’t forget to subscribe to my page for notification on more festivals and events like this when they are in town.

Always with love,
